Idaho Student Murders

This tragedy has captured the hearts of folks across the country. National and local media outlets are covering this story and I saw even the BBC was covering.

This extensive media coverage puts enormous pressure on law enforcement. The public wants to know what law enforcement knows and what they are doing. Law enforcement can't and shouldn't release details of the crime nor should investigative efforts be shared publicly.

It seems the victims' families are becoming somewhat frustrated with the limited information being shared with them by law enforcement. I would hope that the families are at least briefed periodically confidentially.

This is a case in which the public could provide valuable information to law enforcement. I think the authorities should better publicize the request and perhaps try to make more specific requests for information. I also think offering a reward should be implemented now before any more time passes.
